# Launch and set up a node manually

Node installation has the following steps:

* [Preparation](/mainnet-guide/manual/preparation.md)
* [Node Installation](/mainnet-guide/manual/node-installation.md)
* [Running the Node](/mainnet-guide/manual/running-the-node.md)

## Setting up the system

Before installing the node, make sure you run a supported OS.

We currently provide binaries built for Linux (Ubuntu 20.04) and macOS. In this guide, we will omit macOS; the steps are similar, but you probably want to use the launcher.

Install Ubuntu 20.04 on a system (bare metal or VM). See the required system specs [here](/mainnet-guide/launcher/launch-and-run-a-node-using-launcher-app.md).
